Frequently asked questions.
Answers for families looking for coverage and for people exploring a career with TDN Academy.
How much life insurance do I need?
It depends on your income, debts, mortgage, children and long-term goals. A common starting point is 10–15 times your income. Try our life insurance calculator, or book a free needs analysis for a number based on your real situation.
Is term or permanent life insurance better?
Neither is better for everyone. Term gives the most coverage per dollar for a set period. Whole life and IUL last your whole life and build cash value, but cost more. Many families use a mix. We show you the options side by side.
Do you work with only one insurance company?
No. TDN Academy is an independent brokerage. We work with carriers including National Life Group, F&G, Transamerica, Mutual of Omaha and Athene, so we can compare options for you.
Can I meet with someone in person in Alpharetta?
Yes. Consultations are available at our office at 126 N Main St, Suite B200 in downtown Alpharetta, or by phone and video.
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Many carriers offer accelerated or simplified underwriting with no exam for qualifying applicants, depending on age, health and coverage amount.
Does it cost anything to talk to you?
No. The policy review and needs analysis are free, with no obligation to buy.
What carriers do you represent?
National Life Group, F&G, Transamerica, Mutual of Omaha and Athene, among others. Availability depends on product and state.
Do you sell annuities?
For annuities and retirement income planning, visit our retirement brand Retire With Tai.
What is TDN Academy?
A life insurance brokerage and training organization in Alpharetta, Georgia. We protect families, and we recruit, license, train and develop agents.
Does it cost anything to join?
Joining is free. Licensing costs (course, state exam, fingerprinting and license fees) are paid directly to those providers.
What happens on the strategy call?
A short call of about 15 minutes to talk about your goals, explain how the Academy works, answer questions and decide together if it’s a fit.
Do I need sales experience or a license?
No. Training covers products, needs analysis, presentations and objection handling, with role-play before real appointments. We guide unlicensed candidates through licensing.
How long does it take to get licensed in Georgia?
Many people finish in roughly 3 to 6 weeks. State processing after application averages about 14 business days.
Are the leads really free?
Qualified, active agents can receive company-generated leads at no upfront cost. Availability varies, is not guaranteed and depends on activity and follow-up.
Do I have to recruit or build a team?
No. Leadership is optional. Personal production is a complete career path.
Am I an employee?
No. Agents generally work as independent contractors under separate written agreements with TDN Academy and each carrier.
How do agents get paid? Is income guaranteed?
Agents are generally paid commissions on placed policies under their contracts and carrier schedules. Income is not guaranteed and depends on licensing, effort, skills, market conditions and carrier decisions.
